It’s a Girl Thing: Supporting Students with Dignity and Care

For too many young women, something as basic as access to feminine hygiene products can become a barrier to learning. Missing class, feeling embarrassed, or trying to make it through the school day without the supplies they need can affect a student’s confidence, focus, and overall well-being.

The Rotary Club of Meriwether County believes that no student should have to face these challenges alone.

Led by Kay Williamson, Rotary Club members recently came together to assemble “It’s a Girl Thing” care bags for the Wraparound Centers at Manchester High School and Greenville High School. Each bag is filled with essential feminine hygiene products to provide students with discreet, practical support when they need it most.

But this project is about much more than what is inside each bag. ❤️

It is about removing barriers, protecting dignity, building confidence, and helping students stay focused on what matters most—their education and their future.

Every bag represents a simple message to a young woman: You matter. You are supported. Your community cares about you and wants to see you succeed.

A special thank-you to Kay Williamson for her leadership and to all of the Rotarians and community members who helped make this meaningful project possible.

Through projects like It’s a Girl Thing, the Rotary Club of Meriwether County continues to put Service Above Self into action—showing that sometimes the smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest difference. ?
